Estepona, city on the rise

Estepona is a small town west of Marbella with a total population of 70,000. Despite its popularity as a tourist attraction due to its proximity to hot spots such as Puerto Banus, the town has retained much of its Andalusian charm. This with its quaint cobbled streets, local restaurants, bars and quaint stores and bodega.

The area has eight golf courses, seven museums, a beautiful marina and a well-equipped beach. The community stretches for more than 21km along the Mediterranean and includes some of the best and quietest beaches on the Costa del Sol. The “old town,” as it is known, is set in lush countryside and sheltered by the surrounding mountains. With the Mediterranean Sea at its feet, Estepona is quieter than other towns on the Costa del Sol.

Estepona town has had an expansion in recent years. It is now high on the list in terms of the most beautiful resorts on this side of the Costa del Sol. Many streets are pedestrian-only and are flanked by whitewashed houses decorated with colorful geraniums.
The beachfront promenade stretches for several kilometers. You can stroll along the city’s Blue Flag beaches. On the west side of town is Estepona Marina, home to the fishing fleet and stores and restaurants, as well as a Sunday market. Estepona has excellent amenities and facilities, including health centers, private hospitals, schools (including Colegio San José, which usually tops the list of Andalusia’s best schools) and sports centers.
